Electric and gas.

Hi i hope someone can advise me on what to do.

I am in the process of moving house.
In the house i am moving from is both Electric and Gas both are dry meters and i have it by SSE.

The house i am moving to is all Electric but a token meter and i dont know who they are with.

I am moving on 11th march. But i dont want a token meter and i wantto change from SSE.

When do i take meter readings from my old house? And can i ask for Token meter to be taken out? Who should take it out? And finally can i change supplier when i move?

Hope i have explained myself properly and TIA xx
i came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p

As regards your old house you read your meters on the day you cease to be responsible for it - often the day you move out. Take photos. Not sure what you mean by a "dry" meter.

Details of the existing supplier should have been provided by the present owner as part of the purchasing process. Check with your solicitor.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

As said inform you current supplier on day you move out, also give them new address for final bill.

You can get your new supplier here: https://www.uswitch.com/gas-electricity/guides/who-is-my-energy-supplier/

Inform them when you move in and again give them the meter readings. Ask for meter change.

Once an account has been set up with them you can then start a switch.

Yo may not get a PAYG meter removed straight

On the day you are no longer responsible for the consumption, usually the day you leave
(e.g. the last day of your tenancy agreement, completion day, etc)
And can i ask for Token meter to be taken out?
Yes, you can ask once you are the registered account holder
    Who should take it out?
    The supplier
And finally can i change supplier when i move?
Of course, as soon as you have registered with the existing supplier

Your new supplier will most probably do a credit history check before removing the meter. If you meet their criteria I would nt expect them to move quickly in exchanging meters.
Before you do check the tariff rates on the token meter. Electric meter tariff is seen by pressing the blue button to I think its screen "F "for the daily standing charge and screen " I "after the rate 1 reading which will show the pence per kwh rate..That is the important rate to check..Gas tariff is also available by pressing the red button until it beeps then scroll through the screens.
I say this because you may be surprised to see the currently low rates that prepays are now on being both subsidised and capped. Prepay rates beat standard variable nowadays.
Also do a check with UKpower.co.uk comparison sites to see what the best prepay rates are compared to a "dry " tariff.Last time I checked there was nt that much difference although I think they may be adjusted upwards this April
