changing named driver or not

Hello MSE,

Situation

Car1 Owner Wife, Main Driver Wife, I am named Driver

Insurance renewed 10 days ago

Car2 Owner me, main driver me, Wife is named Driver

Insurance renewal due in May 2019

Car1 has given up and we will be buying a new car where I will be main driver, Car2 will be used mostly by wife.

The way I see it, my best option is to change Wife's policy to Car1 and let mine expire and purchase myself a new policy for Car3 with wife as named driver.

Or is it better to leave my policy on Car2, let wife drive it, buy a new car under wife's policy and I drive it.

I have cancelled wife's insurance on Car 1 and taken a new policy with her as main driver on Car 2.
