As per the title, can you tell if someone has unfollowed or unfriended you on Facebook?

I’ve a Facebook Account with 62 friends: small I appreciate. At the same time I’m a member of a small number of closed groups.

Recently I posted a puzzle on my own and, on a closed group on Facebook. On the closed group I got in excess of 50 replies, but on my own Facebook site I received only one reply! That caused me to think have I been ‘unfollowed’ or ‘unfriended by a number of those I’ve befriended? If I have can I see who they are. Of course how do I go about it?

Thanks for any help you can offer

Kevin

You can see if someone has unfriended you by going to their profile, if they're no longer a friend you'll see a limited profile and an option to send a friend request.

I'm not aware of any official way to check if a friend has unfollowed you.

The behaviour you describe is exactly what I'd expect as groups are often very large in size and very active as well. I don't find people on my feed to be particularly reactive either, a lot of my friends are not on FB that often nor interact that much either. Furthermore FB have their own sorting algorithms which means they don't show all your posts to all your friends by default, they try and tailor it so you and your friends will see more of each others content the more you interact with each other.

Does it really matter if they have? There's more important things in life to be concerned about than whether random people you have never met have unfriended you on Faceache.

I wouldnt let it bother you OP, you might find someone has unfriended you because they have decided they havent spoken to you for a while.

Personally for Facebook I'd argue quality of friends over number of friends.

The number of who have thousands of "friends" on Facebook, I'd be surprised if they spoke to anywhere 1% of them on a regular basis.
  • Use Facebook Purity, a programme which allows you to do all sorts with facebook, including getting rid of most of the adverts.

You can set it to tell you when someone de-friends you.

How often do your "friends" participate in Facebook? I have "friends" who don't look at Facebook from one year to the next, only half a dozen are regular participants.

I was unfriended by someone who used to come out to lunch with a group of us. It was about 9 months before I even noticed.:rotfl: Then found out via another person she was bad mouthing me elsewhere online about things which happened years before and I had just let go. Couldn't care less.:D

More likely its Facebook prioritising what your friends see, based on interactions etc.
So people you actually interact with will see your posts vs another friend.
Im similar in my FB in I have a small circle of friends compared to many, even then I only see the posts of a core group of them unless I go looking or we interact through someones post.

It's possible they're like me and just don't do puzzles or similar when friends post them on FB.
