Smart Meters - any reason not to have one?

Hi everyone. Just been offered a free smart meter installation by Bulb.
Pros: don't have to read the meters every month
Cons: privacy???
Can't really think of any reasons not to get one so thought I would ask this forum for advice.
Cheers

There is little or no advantage to the consumer in having a smart meter fitted. You still need to read the meter to confirm that the correct readings are being sent to the supplier.
The government & industry has promoted a lot of bollox about energy-saving but this is all nonsense.0 -

You do not need to confirm the correct meter readings. You would only need to do this if your meter had stopped sending a reading (signal/fault) or your usage changed enough for your supplier to notice.0 -
I would not advise getting one as they do not allow you to change suppliers if you wish to.0

I have had one for five years now and have changed supplier four times without any problem. It did go dumb after the first change but the IHD still shows my usage, although the charges are incorrect.
I have found it far easier to read than the old meter, mainly due to the meter's location.0 -

Best deals that insist on a Smart Meter seemingly exclude those who already have a Smart Meter0 -
I am sure that if I had a smart meter I would still want to confirm that the readings being transmitted were correct. You do not need to confirm the correct meter readings.
