    Hi,

Sending the "proveit letter" by post, not email, would have avoided this situation, email is not secure, so anyone could of been the sender, a letter tells them they are dealing with the person they believe to be the debtor.

What does a letter prove that an email doesn't? A "signed" letter could have any signature on it.

Companies need to ensure they are not breaching DPA, what information is needed to be sufficient in accordance with the act may be different to the amount that a company decides is needed. As stated simply ignoring all letters could result in a CCJ by default.

When checking credit files, check soft searches too, though that would only say hey have searched your file. If they are acting on behalf of a creditor, then you probably won't see anything else on there, we also don't know if the original creditor reported to CRA so might not be anything on there.

Signed letters are deemed to be from the right person and they have a signature to show if not, email from an unconfirmed email address does not replicate this.
