  • Hi, if a DWP payment as been paid in, could be someone you know who need an address for a payment ?

Became homeless, split up from someone ?

The DWP payment may have a ref number by the payment could that give a clue to whos used it ?

I suppose if you have reported it and all is ok with your credit etc, they maybe no need for you to find out who done it.

Hi there are names on the bank statement but I so not recognise any of them. I have pressed the bank for more information but have been told as the account is now locked and not mine (as I initially said it was) they wont give me anymore info

... this latest post is ambiguous.

Up to this point you have given all of us the impression that the bank statement and the vodafone statement were addressed to you i.e. both have your name on them??

So what do you mean that there are names on the Barclays bank statement you don't recognise? Are you just referring to the names of various payees? Are you saying the Barclays account appears to be being run like someone's regular bank account, and perhaps for some time? What was the period of the statement? A month, a quarter? How many transactions are on it and what sorts?

A credit report should list all accounts in your name at the address but it is possible I guess, as you now live elsewhere, that records apparently in your name at the linked/old address may not reliably show on your own report which is now primarily linked to your current address. I don't know how the CRA's handle this as part of their supposed role in protecting your data.

Might be worth talking to Experian or Equifax and confirming that their system will pick it up via your usual credit report access with them. If it does, you ought then to be able to see exactly what accounts have been set up and how long they have been running.

You also say that the Vodafone Direct Debit notification refers to a different bank account, presumably also in your name, which you have not yet discovered? Is the sort code Vodafone are referring to also a Barclays sort code starting with 20 i.e. 20-XX-XX or is it a different bank? The sort code of course identifies the bank and the branch or regional branch.

Maybe a bit of clarification. There are several transactions from peoplenido not know on the bank statement. One is called "Bill payment from A.Smith" for £20 and a giro for 3.50 from X.Smith (names changed) money has been withdrawn in cash from cash machine in abbey Hill wherever that is

Well, to be fair Peter, they are going out of fashion. With the advent of online banking, electronic transfers, and ATMs, there is very rarely a need to go into a bank branch.

I haven't been into my bank branch in the last 12 months, despite it still being in the High Street and only 200 yards from my house.

Now if it closed and turned into a coffee shop or a wine bar, then I'd probably frequent it a lot more often.

Post #2 above - well worth it in your situation.

Also contact both EE and Newday and advise them it's not you.

Also, if you have your Actionfraud refernce, update that on their website.

Have you contacted the credit reference agencies, it could be someone with a similar name to yours whose credit file has been linked to yours - unlikely but possible.
