Is this mesh roll any good for rodent control?

Hi,
Would like your opinion if this stuff seems any good to wrap around a few indoor plastic water pipe connections and pipes themselves to stop mice biting through, as I have suffered a few leaks.
Or could it actually be dangerous to use, although its says it is copper I have my doubts.
