BT Virus Protect - annoying advertising

Had BT Virus Protect for a couple of months, no problem. Today, out of the blue, I get an annoying advertising popup - actually a Windows Notification - at the bottom right-hand of the screen suggesting that I purchase additional licences. I can't see anywhere to stop these notifications.; I already have Windows notifications turned off. I tried BT Chat and all I got was a suggestion that I phone up the Support Team! Anyone got any ideas how these pop ups can be stopped? Thanks.

Remove it , nothing different to that which windows own built in antivirus cannot cope with

I got this too - closed in Windows Notifications and haven't had any more. How often are you getting notifications?

Only had one so far - not a big deal, obviously, but I suspect more will follow. I have Windows Notifications turned off already, but BT Virus Protect seems to bypass it. I'm happy to get the pop-ups telling me that a virus check has just completed, and so on, but I object to the facility being used as a marketing tool that can't be disabled.


I noticed on another thread that Windows Defender covers everything that BT Virus Protect does, so maybe it's worth getting rid of BT VP.


BT VP is, in fact, McAfee Anti Virus software, badged by BT.

They're both free and adequate in my opinion. Kaspersky and Bitdefender freebies may provide better protection.
