Curve not rewarding for spends at BP

I have a curve card (free) and could pick 3 retailers to get cashback rewards from using. I couldn't pick Asda or Amazon on the free card so I picked Lidl, Aldi and BP (my local garage).
Alas, I'm not getting rewards for using it at the BP garage. It just says "Hillfoot Garage" when I buy stuff in the shop. Granted I am not buying fuel (don't drive much). But I am still spending in the BP premises. I dug into the details on curves T&C's and it doesn't stipulate it has to be fuel only spend.

I don't seem to be able to change my choice of retailer now. And curve wont reply to my requests on the matter. Bit peeved to be honest. Anyone else having this issue? I chose BP specifically because I'm always buying milk and newspapers etc from there.

It may be a franchise selling the BP fuel, and not a BP owned station. Also, the shop is likely to be a SPAR and not a BP at all, again probably a franchise.
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

That's a bit annoying. I would have picked a different retailer if I had known that for all intent and purpose it means fuel only.

Hillfoot rings a bell, I think our local BP garage comes up as that on the credit card bill

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

My local BP garage (where I regularly use the carwash) has full BP branding throughout, with a green BP canopy etc. but comes up as something unrelated to BP on my credit card.

I wish I could pick Lidl and Aldi though. I've recently opened a Curve card and these two aren't on my list, and there's nothing else on there that I regularly use and don't already get better discounts by other routes.

There was a post about this in the community forum. I believe they are adding these independent BP garages but the only way for them to know is to contact them.

You might get a better response in the community forum. Support has always been slow - more so since the Amex debacle.
  • TGI Friday’s is the same.

Their merchant transactions show as Thursdays UK Limited and I have to email Curve a receipt every time I go there to get the reward points added
