Renault Kadjar
Anyone got any experience of the Kadjar? Good/bad? I am looking at a 1.3 turbo petrol. I have stayed away from the 1.2 due to the widely reported oil issues but can’t find many owner reviews on this car with the 1.3 engine. We have a 4 year old Scenic we are looking to trade in.
I understand there have been some minor issues relating to the new media nav but that’s all i can find really.
Thanks for any help

I think it's too soon to for any problems with the 1.3 engine to be reported in Renaults, Dacias and Nissans, but I seem to think it's been fitted in the A class Merc since June last year, though in 160hp spec.
A few reports that it's pretty harsh and unrefined in the Merc.
Another niggle that puts me off it so far is the "spray/mirror bore" cylinder lining.
It's an alloy block, but instead of fitting steel liners they use a technique that coats the bores with a thin molten iron coating that's then honed to size.
We seen these types of coatings before and they don't always work well.
Porsche have had some success but Jaguar had lots of trouble with their Nikasil linings a while ago, low heat transfer and sulfur in some modern fuels tended to eat the lining away.
Perhaps consider a Suzuki Vitara, the latest one is a step up from the 2015-2018 car.
The 1.4 Boosterjet engine is a bit of a peach and is well tried and tested.0 -
Thanks for the useful information. We had the New Suzuki SX4 on the list. We stopped looking at Vitaras as felt the SX4 better suited our family needs. The issue we had with the SX4 was we could only find one with the 1.0L booster jet and i was a bit unsure of how it would cope with the regular jaunts to Cornwall we do.0

Is it just a 3 year under warranty PCP deal or are you looking to be a long term owner? If the latter I would steer clear of Renault.
No experience of the Kadkar but had the Captur as a hire car for a few days. I liked it for a few days. It drove nicely and was comfortable. The petrol version I had was very very slow and needed to be thrashed to keep up with traffic. The stop-start was almost useless.
Really recommend Suzukis. Everyone I know including me who owns one never even considered them as a purchase until they drove one, usually by chance, and that then became their next car.
Considering the cost, the build quality and the fact that they are actually quite fun to drive, they are an absolute bargain compared to most other makes.0 -

The new one is .. its actually quite attractive - better than the Renault in my opinion. If you fancy paying extra for your plastic dashboard then the Renault is for you, but if not then the Duster should be considered... (almost certainly placing my order shortly)0
