Double judgement

Advice please,
My wife overstayed the two hour limit at Birchanger services by parking behind the petrol station where there wasn't any signage. Parking eye issued a ticket, I appealed and was directed to POPLA. I forgot about this and received a court claim, which made reference to the POPLA rejection. I defended by asking for proof of the rejection. I have received two interesting letters.
1. Claim dismissed and defendant awarded £2200 dated 11/2 and payment to be made by 4/3.
2. Notice of allocation to the small claims track dated 18/2 and to be heard by 11/4.
The letters both state the same case number.

All very odd. If you did not appeal to POPLA, there is no rejection.

But the other two, are both showing your name and address
  • Right name. Right address and same case number. The first is a judgement on a N24.

Well in any case you would be the defendant so ask them to confirm they will be sending £2200 by the 4th of March ????

Are there any phones numbers on the letters? Have you tried calling the court/MCOL about them?

Something doesn't add up here. A defendant wouldn't get awarded £2,200 in costs without there having been a hearing, so that letter sounds like an administrative error (incorrect claim reference used which has led to it being sent to the wrong person).

PS - it sounds like you acted in haste so your defence may be very poor. Please post a copy here of the exact defence you submitted (redacting any personal, identifiable info).
