Excessive electricity usage?
I posted a similar question regarding electricity usage of my ex partners house where I pay the bills for as part of our child maintenance agreement. I have managed to get actual readings & she has been using between 700kwh & 900kwh per month since Oct 2018. This looks like its twice as much as an average house. The house has had a new boiler with no immersion tank & it’s a new build. She doesn’t use any extra heating appliances. She has an electric cooker, 2 TV’s & a PlayStation. I know she is at home through the day around 2 days per week.
Any ideas? Could it because its winter?

If its 700 - 900 in total for gas and elec during winter months that's about average or less. Typically 3000 elec and 10000 gas for a full year.
Can you spilt the consumption between gas and electric pleaseNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Context appears to be electric (ties in with previous thread) and assuming these are actual kwh (wasn't sure in previous thread), the answer's the same I'm afraid - electric heaters? e.g. kick panel heater in kitchen, underfloor electric heating, electric towel rad(s)...0

700 - 900 for electricity is a lot. Electricity, with gas heating, does not increase significantly during winter, unless they are using electric heaters.
According to the other thread, his ex has gas central heating https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/75421168#Comment_75421168

I'm confused. The other thread gave numbers for gas AND electric. Electric was 630kwh/month. But estimated. And still estimated!?PennineAcute wrote: »According to the other thread, it is both gas and electric https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/75421168#Comment_75421168
EDIT: Hi Pennine. I see you editted your post :-) Electric looks high but still estimated!?0 -

Its the electricity that I am concerned about. I take photos of the meters before I submit the readings but I deleted the photos & there was an issue about my reading so they used an estimation. I managed to retrieve the photos so the readings are now actual not estimated.
There are no electrical heaters in the house. Definitely no underfloor heating. It was built in 2007. No towel rads either.0 -

Bitcoin mining!? Faulty meter? You need to be there and have a look around.[From 20/01/2019 - 20/02/2019 Electricity - 875.2 kWh] There are no electrical heaters in the house. Definitely no underfloor heating. It was built in 2007. No towel rads either.
EDIT: a previous thread was solved when OP found out the backup immersion heater was to blame. I know you said it's not an immersion heater. Is that because there isn't one OR that it's definitely off?0 -

I think I might go to her house & switch off all of the appliances & watch the meter.
When we first moved in there was a gas boiler that fed a storage tank upstairs. This tank may have been electric but last year it was removed & the water is now instant. There is only a gas combi boiler now.0 -
If the average household is supposed to use around 3500kwh a year that equates to approx 300kwh a month.
We are all electric, heating as well and only manage to get through about 7000kwh a month which is an average of approx 600kwh/month (its around 300 in the summer and about 1000kwh mo in the winter) so I'd guess that you've got to pretty dedicated to use 800+kwh/month if it's gas central heating and no immersion heater either.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
