Issues with Lowell

Hello
I am having issues with Lowell. I have a new debt with them from British Gas and have the below issues:
1). The debt from BG states it is for period of 5 years, however less than a year into moving into that home, we switched from BG to another provider. So their claim on the letter is wrong. How do i go about dispute this?
2). Account is under both me and my husband, however Lowell are sending this to us separately. I already spoke with them about repayment yet a week later they send a separate letter to my husband with a diff reference number but for same debt to ask him to arrange payment. Yet i already agreed a plan with them (although I now realise the time period of debt is wrong).
They also sent letters addressed to me but sent to my parents home address, where I have never lived. I am very frustrated at the way they are dealing with me, getting a lot very wrong. What can I do. I have asked for complaint to be made, but they have not responded. It has been over 2 weeks now. It is really causing anxiety and stress.

Contact them to discuss it.
Get the facts straight and keep your cool when speaking to them.0 -
If it were me, I would only make contact in writing via Royal Mail. This would prevent the risk of you becoming flustered on the phone.
I would also write with a complaint to BG, clearly stating that you switched to a new energy supplier, and that you provided closing meter reads etc. I would request that they contact Lowell to inform them that the account has been reported in error and to stop any action against you.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Do not phone, do not email, WRITE - pen, paper, letter - to BG and copy Lowell - and head your letter COMPLAINT in big bold letters.
Detail the fact that you left BG after less than a year so why then are they saying you owe them for 5 years, and ask that the so-called debt be recalled back to BG from Lowell and that they fully investigate why they expect you to pay for 5 years'service when you were only with them for less than a year.
If you still have details, enclose your old BG account number in your letter.
You did keep a record of opening and closing meter readings and any payments made to BG?
Edited to add - as well as writing yourself, get your husband to do the same since he has also been pestered about the same "debt".
If, after 8 weeks nothing gets done then escalate to OFGEM and get them to sort it out.0 -

Exactly this.......follow it word for word, stay off the phone, too many pitfalls, do everything in writing.
