Suspicious in the way they avoided an straight answer to a simple question !
Here is a radical suggestion - you may need to sit down with a strong brandy for this so apologies in advance.
Have you considered actually picking up a phone and calling your local dealer to ask them rather than a bunch of strangers that dont actually know which dealer it is that you may want to use?
To be honest though, walking out over a £95 fee, although that is your 'right' of course, isn't that a tad Walter Mitty when the overall cost of the car is likely to be in its thousands?0 -
Quicks tried the same with me, tried to claim it was for doing checks to make sure the car wasn't stolen and indeminity insurance should it turn out it was as well as for doing a PDI to make sure everything was OK. I pointed out that it was their responsibility to ensure that it wasn't stolen before they put it up for sale and that it was fit for purpose if it turned out to be stolen or faulty then I'd be going after them. Refused to pay and they still sold me the car but they weren't happy about it. Car sales places tend not to like people who know their consumer rights.
Quicks was owned by Pendragon (think they've closed Quicks down now) who also own Evans Halshaw, there would have been a sticker (rather small) in the bottom corner of the windscreen confirming the Fee was optional.0 -
Update:- I used Twitter to contact Lookers and asked about the £95 fee -no response
I called in to my local Lookers and asked the salesman on the forecourt about this potential fee
He avoided the question and invited me in the see the Sales Manager
I asked him to give me straight answer to my question, but he avoided giving an answer
Frustrated, I left.0
