Bad Employment Agencies - Your Experiences

Have any of you here had any bad experiences with employment ("employment"? Ha, that's a laugh!) agencies? Myself, I have had far too many to mention, all of which have, naturally, left me feeling extremely angry, dejected and demoralised.

Why on EARTH do these useless organisations still stay in business, in the face of all the bad reports they have had about them from all the jobseekers they have mistreated?

Literally no idea what you mean.

Used them twice; first one led to a very successful 4 year FTC and very nice redundancy package when I left

second time they weren't as useful (the IT system wouldn't accept a change in category for work) but certainly helpful with looking at CV etc. didn't take me long to find another job anyway

Probably because people keep going back to them, in spite of having "far too many bad experiences to mention"?

Well I certainly don't "keep going back to them".

Um, if you don't keep going back to them, how have you managed to have so many bad experiences?

I wouldn't say "bad" as such, i just find them generally quite annoying as a candidate and hiring manager

They're just sales people, they try make out they're more than that, but thats all they are. They serve a purpose on occasion
  • There are some terrible ones out there, as a candidate they arranged interviews for me. Oh but one small detail, they didn't tell me they had.

So I get a call from a potential new employer asking why I missed the appointment.

I gave them benefit of the doubt but after a second similar !!!! up, I realised they were actually just inept.

How do they stay in business? Well funnily enough I accidentally became a client of theirs a few years later (thanks HR) and they managed to put the CV of an amazing candidate under my nose... Yes she got the job and they got paid a fair whack for the introduction... So I guess if you throw enough **** some will stick :)

Not sure that's the correct idiom to fit here but whatever :rotfl: Slowly heads for another coffee :D

Maybe its the staff you have encountered, theres always 1 bad apple though.

Were you a model customer or were you hard work for them ?

I don't need to explain further. Have you not read all the countless horror stories jobseekers have related on the Internet over many years about these useless, self-serving organisations - from advertising fake jobs to not returning your calls time and time again - ? All that speaks for itself.

How do they stay in business? Because the people paying them are not the unsuccessful job seekers. They only need to please the hiring companies, who are paying them.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.
