Britannia Parking PCN & BW Legal

Hey all,
Had a PCN in september (20th) for a 40 min overstay in Lydiards Fields, Swindon. I've received a 'debt collection' letter from BW Legal today after having my POPLA appeal rejected and not paying the PCN, to which they have inflated the price from £100 to £160 citing 'legal fees'.
I've sent a SAR to Britannia Parking and now was wondering what my next steps were?
Thanks,
J

Next step is to read the NEWBIES thread.
If you are at the debt collection letter stage, you save but do not respond to the letters. And you wait for the Letter Before Claim (details on the NEWBIES thread). Are you sure it's not a real LBC from BW Legal? Read all the other Britannia threads!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I don't believe it's a real LBC, it's just indicating that i now have an account with them and they request payment within 16 days. There is also a letter from BRIT included, stating that the balance has been passed over to BWL.
Do I need to contact BWL to say a SAR is in place and to restrict data processing? and if so.. how to structure?, and email or letter?
Cheers,

A real LBC must give you 30 days to respond, include proof of their claim and costs. Also numerous forms are included which you ignore
Don't be mislead with the word "passed" to BWLegal.
Britannia can only instruct BWL to collect on their behalf, the so called debt never belongs to BWL.
You certainly don't have an account with them
Watch out for this ....
BWLEGAL ADD ON A FAKE £60 ?
In addition to the 'parking charge', the Claimant's legal representatives, BWLegal, have artificially inflated the value of the Claim by adding costs of £60 which has not actually been incurred by the Claimant, and which are artificially invented figures in an attempt to circumvent the Small Claims costs rules using double recovery. >>>> thanks to bargepole0 -
The whole industry is a scam, relying on threats of court, and the public's ignorance of the Law, A bill is currently before parliament which will regulate the scammers, many of whom are ex-clampers.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.
Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Second Reading in the Lords this month, and, with a fair wind, will l become Law later this year..
All five readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 7-8 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers.
