First Anniversary

Afternoon all,
I wondered if any mechanic could help! I can’t get my car in to the garage until next week. Basically, when I went back to my car earlier I saw something hanging down. I got in the floor and took some pics and it’s badly rusted. By the time I’d gotten home (a good 45 min drive) a massive piece was hanging down so I pulled it and it came off in my hand. I’ve not managed to take an after picture but this is what it was like before I drove home.

Is it safe to keep driving until I can get it in the garage or should I leave it parked up until it’s looked at?

Thanks

Ps it won’t let me post an image as I’m a “new user”, any ideas around this??

A picture would help. Host a picture on a sharing site and post a link but change http to hxxp.

It looks like a heat shield around the exhaust silencer

    'zorst heat shield

don't park in any fields/hay barns/other flammable stuff

    otherwise fine

don't go to kwik fit for a replacement, or you'll come out with brakes, suspension, tyres, and a lot less cash.

That to me looks like the outer skin of the exhaust itself rather than the heat shield.

I've had something similar on my car. Not a problem, I decided to cut away all the outer layer so it looks neater but this isn't a necessity.

Haha no I’ve got a good mechanic he’s just busy until next week. But if it’s ok to drive I won’t rush.
