Hello,

I had a new kitchen extension completed for the most part in June 2016 through a national company who recommended a private contractor. They had a few items to finish but due to their busy schedule they were not able to complete final touches and in September 2016, there was a leak in the washing machine pipework causing extensive flooding and damage to my flooring. I called the washing machine engineer who told me that there was an issue with the installation. I contacted the private contractor, who advised that they were not to blame but I did manage to convince them to come to the house and take a look. After checking all pipework, they DID find issues with the installation and put it down to a 'silly mistake'(!).

I was advised to contact the private contractor's insurance company who subsequently told me that they no longer insured the private contractor. There was nothing further I could do. Despite my attempts to contact them I never heard from the private contractor again. It has come to my knowledge that this company have since been dissolved.

I have also had numerous conversations with the National Company who oversaw the building works to my kitchen extension and they have basically told me that there is nothing they can do to help me. I still have ongoing issues with the washing machine plumbing and a few little jobs which still need to be finished. Despite a 10 year warranty the oven is also now not working.

What are my options at this stage?

What should have been a dream extension has turned into a long, expensive saga!

Any help, much appreciated.
