Old Style Daily Thursday 21st February 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I’ve had three hours sleep and just can’t get back to sleep so have given up, got up and made a cup of tea and am going to waste a bit of time on the internet and then try going back to bed. Sometimes getting up like that works for me.

In the end I decided the housework could wait yesterday and went out for a short walk in the park and then a friend joined me for coffee and a bit of people watching in town. This seemed to take it out of me and I went home and spent the afternoon dozing on the sofa.

Today I have an appointment with my GP this morning. This afternoon I want to get some housework done, even if it is only a bit of light dusting.

Other than that, not much happening here today.

    Have a good Thursday everyone.
  • Morning everyone and thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.

Yesterday was a bit of a struggle for me. I felt quite unwell so went to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon but then developed a migraine in tge evening. I have slept but am up now, though with a headache still. This is unusual for me - I often have small cobalt blue rectangles at the side of my field of vision and my gp told me thiswas an unusual but not rare form of migraine. I've been fortunate in that this rarely develops further but last night was the full prismatic visual disturbance. I think it will all be over and done with by the middle of the day. I do count myself lucky as I have friends who get this frequently and it is rare for me.

I feel a bit wiped out but I don't have much on this week at all, mostly just toymaker for a friend before I go back to police panda making.

I hope everyone has the best day possible and am sending positive thoughts to those who are struggling with far more significant worries and ill health than me.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Good morning :)

Hi Holly AOD and everyone still to come.

Up daft early again partly cos I know it's a long trip today so need to leave soon after 5.30 and partly for the usual reasons of an over active worry head again.

Yesterday was no where near as bad as expected and whilst still not the easiest group we ended up having quite a good laugh. Today is a different challenge its a one to one which can be pretty intense for a full day. Its over in Wetheby so I'll wave to our Yorkshire contingent on the way

Food wise ...usual butties made and packed up... tonight I fancy chilli I think

Right I'm off... hope everyone has a lovely day

    Morning All

Hope you feel better AOD, sounds horrid.

I went for ear candling after work yesterday, my sinuses feel better today. It was a strange sensation and quite disgusting to see what came out of my ears but apparently not as bad as a lot - what a job!

Nothing of interest to witter on about so I'll wish you all a happy Thursday. Take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Hope you got back to sleep again.

Yesterday was the most tiring day ever. Remind me NEVER to go to Leeds again with DD and the 3 girls. My hips, knees, legs starting paining me with a vengeance and I felt almost like crawling back to the station by 6.30!! We had a wait for the next train so collapsed in the station bar where a much needed glass of wine was enjoyed!

Anyway the highlight of the day was the Kitty Cafe. Aw so many sweet kitties to stroke, watch and fuss over. It is a cat's paradise with trees, posts etc to climb up to make their way along the overhead network of "bridges" etc. Plus toys for them to be entertained by. To a none cat lover it would be a nightmare! It worked out an expensive treat and, as far as the food goes, it wasn't worth it but worth it for the experience!

I was shattered by the time we fell in the door at 8.00 pm and I was hoping the girls wouldn't want anything to eat but they did! Anyway they settled on cheese toasties so not too taxing!

They are all still fast asleep this morning and, once up, it will be another day of mayhem. Not sure about shopping. It will probably be easier without them and I may leave it till the w/e as there is nothing I am stuck fast for. I need to be here from noon onwards anyway as a chap is coming from Yorks Water to assess me for the water meter I applied for.

It HAS to be the usual Thursday Bolognese Bake for tea so will get that on the go in a while. Not sure about lunch, I may give them burgers in buns and fries.

Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

  • Good morning and thanks for starting Holly.
It's fine here, though it started fine yesterday then turned grey and wet in th afternoon.

    Hope you'll be ok AOD

Nelski, glad your day yesterday was all right, hope today is as well

Camelot, I've read about ear candling, wonder how it works, draining your sinuses.

TA, I wondered how you'd got on at the Kitty Caf!, it sounds lovely!! I would like to go to one. As I've said, there's a one in Newcastle on the Quayside, You often see people peering in at the cats, in fact I'm one of them. Sounds like a great day out, even though you suffered for it with your knees etc.

I've got an appointment for my annual boob check this afternoon, the clinic always runs late but it doesn't matter, just have to sit there.

That's it really, thoughts to the sad and poorly.

    Take care folks
  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Holly, hope you manage some sleep

This weather is so wonderful for this time of year, so mild. Trying to spend some time in the garden each day, only about 30 minutes at a time but it's surprising how much you can get done. Contacted some one to give me a price for trimming the hedge and trees.

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light, dry and mild here this morning. Washing to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work, DS1 still in his pit, he's using up the last of his annual leave so is off until next Wednesday he then has more time of next week too.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Tonight I'm not sure but I'll organise whilst out today.

Work yesterday was a bit bizarre, some of the time dead and then in the afternoon quite busy with a steady stream of customers.

I decided to approach management by way of an email, and eventually the whole team got an email back which doesn't really tell us anything, and hasn't addressed any issues - so I'm just going to get on with doing my job the best I can and keeping my head down.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning my wee pals,

Didn't get the chance to come on here yesterday as I was back down in London for the day at a trade show. Busy and lonnnggggg day was had. Had to buy my own food and drink but will be put back through as expenses, but it disrupts my YNAB tracking a bit. A minor pain and very much a case of 'first world problems'.

Back to normality somewhat today. Work > gym > some new recipe which included a turkey breast. £3 for 1 breast?! Seems a bit steep. I've never bought it or cooked with it before but given I can get 5 x chicken breasts for something not far off that, I thought it was a bit pricey.

Still have a humongous pile of ironing to do. Which I WILL do tonight. Mark my words.

camelot - my mum works in a beauticians and they used to do them. I tried them too and it was fascinating/disgusting at the same time. Nice to hear you've felt some benefit too.
  • Morning (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Quick visit this morning, I have an appointment with the physio this morning and then going on to do the shopping at Aldi.

Its fine and the sun is showing signs of coming through, it was a fabulous sunset last night.

Nice meal at Sainsbugs at lunch time, we need to make the effort to have lunch out regularly, I did appreciate not having to cook supper last night.

No idea whats for supper tonight, will sort something out when I get back.
