Hi guys,
Hope this is the correct forum to post this on.
At the end of December 2018, I agreed with the Volkswagen dealership for the T-Roc with the specs that I wanted, signed the contract and paid a £250 deposit. The salesman told us that it will take up to 3 months for the manufacturer to build this car with my specs.
I got a call today (20th Feb) from the salesman saying that the manufacturer will not be making that specific engine for the T-Roc anymore. They then said that they have a few cars in the same model in stock but not with the specs that I wanted.
Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

You can't have what they don't have to give. Either pick another spec and hope for some kind of goodwill payment or extra in the car or get your money back and move on.0

Your options are getting your deposit back and perhaps being able to find the car elsewhere (unlikely), or accepting another car and maybe getting an extra or two thrown in for the inconvenience.0

Which engine? If its the 1.5 TSi you may have dodged a bullet. Its turning into another VW petrol engine with inherent problems.
Choices are change your order, have one which is in stock, cancel and get a refund.0 -
yes it will be a 1.5L TSI 7 speed DSG engine. What type of problems do you mean?0

It won’t be.
They don’t have to do a run just for you. If they’ve stopped it all you need to do is get a refund and that’s sorted0 -
As daveyjp said there are problems with that engine so it's worth doing a bit more research into it.
However it's not unheard of for dealers to make mistakes on orders and find that the chosen specs would cost more than they have quoted, a quick get out for them could be to tell you it's no longer available rather than admitting the mistake and then baring any costs for it. Have a look on the VW website and go through the package builder to see what the price comes out at for your package compared to what the dealer said it would be. Your chosen engine is still available on the package builder, I would have thought if they've had time to contact the dealers to take it off sale they've had enough time to also update the website.0 -
I suggest you look at the trocforums.co.uk web site where you will find that you are not alone.0
