Speeding evidence

I have been sent a speeding offence which shows my car doing 35mph in a 30mph zone. The photograph has been sent to me with the notice.
The car is insured for me and my wife and since it is a route we both take, and the fact that it was sent ot me 2 weeks after the offence makes it difficult for me to remember who was driving.
I wrote back to Thames Valley Police asking if they could show me who was driving the car and also mentioned that it would be either my wife or me. I also mentioned that if they cannot provide any further evidence I was willing to be liable for the offence.
I have now received a Single Justice Procedure Notice from the police.
CAn someone advise please what I should do?
Thanks for any help which any of you could offer

I mean this sincerely. Best thing you can do is confess it was either you, or your wife (obviously whilst telling the truth)
Think harder, you must know who it was...
Seen many a person who ‘un remember’ who was driving...
Face up to it, pay the fine, take the points/speed awareness training and move on.
Not naming a person will not make it go away.0 -
The Rt Hon. Member for Peterborough might be able to offer some advice on this one if you attend one of her surgeries.*

You must be able to make a good guess at who was driving, based on the time of day and what you were doing that day, it was only 2 weeks ago. If you really don't know, then it's pretty risky to fail to identify someone since it carries 6 points instead of 3 for nominating who you think is more likely.0

What's the timeline? Have you responded formally to the S172 notice (which is what the first letter was) within 28 days? If not then the SJP Notice is a court summons for "failure to furnish" details of the driver ... your interim communication doesn't count as a proper response to the S172. This mean that instead of a £100 fine and 3 points it's now (probably) going to be a much higher fine and 6 points.
PS - since you refer to a SJPN then I presume that this is Scotland. If yes then a speed awareness course wouldn't be an option. (Yet - but they are coming).0 -
What offence have you been charged with?
If it is failure to furnish info., then it is too late now to name the driver, and it is a much more serious charge than the original speeding.
You should plead not guilty (to all charges) which will bring a summons to court. Post on pepipoo.com for help on how to deal with it.0 -
