Redundancy and redeployment

I have been on a fixed term contract for 3 years next week. Last month I was told my post is being made redundant as part of a restructure. My employers have just taken on another worker into the same locality, same job, same everything whose permanent contract commenced after i was informed i was being made redundant next month. I had applied for this, what they claim, is a new post but did not get it. I did question at the time why I had to apply and be interviewed and was told it is a new post, there are several of us on the team working in this same post.

I was put on thr redeployment register and have noticed another exactly the same post in a different locale come up which i have applied for. Surely theres slot in rights here and I dont have to go through the rigmarole of interviews if a suitable alternative is right there, same title, grade, job spec, person spec plus the fact my post was originally split between these 2 locales?

I have also appealled the decision to make me redundant.
