waitrose/britannia partking malarky

Hi all. i've read a lot of threads about parking tickets and am more confused than ever!
Basically i have a parking ticket (invoice) from Britannia when I overstayed my welcome at Waitrose. Because they didn't send the letter to me recorded delivery i have only just been passed it by my neighbour - out of the 14 day cheaper charge
.
Surely if they don't bother to make sure you receive their letters, you shouldn't be liable to pay the bigger amount??? Obviously, I'd like not to pay anything as have spend heaps over the years at waitrose - but the manager isn't being very helpful so far (I didn't spend £100's).
Help please

I recently had the same. Sent them the standard letter listed in the FAQ and they folded, letter a week later saying they dropped it. Got them based on they could not prove who was driving, and no grace period shown. There may be more but they were the reasons they gave for dropping it. Also, dropped as a 'good will gesture'.0

If only life was that easy ?
Managers of these stores nowadays are glorified shelf stackers
It really does not matter what you spent in one visit, it's you as a customer over the years that is most important.
I'm sure that by going back through your bank statements, credit cards etc you can prove your loyalty.
To the that end, you complain to the MD and insist he cancels as you do not want to shop where a scammer operates in the car park and that applies to your family and friends

If the Store Manager won't help, go higher up:
Mr Rob Collins Managing Director
Email rob.collins@waitrose.co.uk
Complain to him/the Head Office of Waitrose about this, showing ALL days you've shopped there or your Waity's card number so they can check you are genuine, and say how terrified you are by this scam in their car park, from a firm who you've read sue people, every day of the week.
Go on to say how awful it is that genuine Waitys customers are caught up by such a truly nasty industry who are acting as parasites and associating with decent companies like Waitrose, only to then SUE their customers.
Do they realise the effect on customers they must be losing? Ask them. Tell them. ad explain that you will appeal but you know Britannia DO NOT USUALLY CANCEL unless Waitys tell them to, so you ask that they please step in on this one occasion and cancel this one, as you understand they can tell their agent to do exactly that.
Same as this thread, your case is no different than any other about this scam, so make sure the CEO of Waitrose learns of your anger and distress about possibly being sued:

See the NEWBIES thread for how and when to appeal (it tells you the first 14 days meant nothing at all and was just a bribe). DO NOT choose 'driver' when appealing, obviously.

Tracey, have you derived your forum username from your real name?
If so, you would be wise to get your forum username changed to something very much more anonymous.
To help with that, you might like to read this short extract from The MSE Forum Guide - Frequently Asked Questions & Rules:Q. How can I change my username?
A. In most circumstances, this is not permitted.
The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk. This usually means you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something that gives away your identity within your username.
If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com and request that it is changed, giving three alternative usernames in order of preference.0 -
thankyou all so much for your replies. I had been in the Brighton waitrose after moving down to the area from surrey. Waitrose was our saturday shop (and i used it when i had my cake shop - nearly every day!). however, this was a new branch for me.
i will do as suggested and write to the managing director rather than the manager. Do they have the right to ask for bank statements ?? i can prove payments over the years at the Coulsdon branch but only shopped once at brighton
my name is not my real name but thankyou for advising me0 -

Brighton ? you will have a friend here .....
As coupon-mad says prove with your waitrose card.
They have no right to anything but you must prove customer loyalty, redacted bank statements are fine.
More so, Waitrose must prove to you they value your custom
Point out your move and what a welcome to the brighton store, being scammed as a loyal customer0 -
What does recorded delivery have to do with it being delivered to your neighbour?0

They cancelled my ticket!!!!!! I emailed Rob and explained and a great lady in the team made my ticket disappear.
Thankyou all soooooooooooooooo much as I was just about to pay it and you gave me the confidence to try one more time.
oh, and recorded delivery would have meant it wouldn't have gone to my neighbour if they'd had to get my signature on delivery. :j:T:rotfl::j:j:j0 -
