The bad bit you already mentioned part service history... Last owner didnt want to spend money on it??

As long as you realise that your £595 car may cost double that in repairs and bringing it upto scratch.

New CV joint probably and a steering track rod for starters.

  • Why even bother with it. There are hundreds of cars for sale.

Why bother asking and when told to avoid crack on anyway.

A trader selling £500 cars will buy scrap and add a couple of hundred pounds profit, if you are buying at this price range go private. Realistically if you don't know your way around a car it may be better to buy a travel pass.

i'm a little confused why you are even bothering going to see this vehicle given the comments in response to the advice you asked for.
Your saying it's all you can afford at the moment but then talk about getting it transported to a garage or sourcing parts to get it fixed. I dont know much about cars ie. i'm not car handly & certainly can't do repairs by myself but from my experience of having had to pay for many repairs ... usually it's not the parts that are the main cost factor it's the labour. your probably talking at least a couple of hundred in repairs for this car, why are you so set on it? why not add what your considering forking out on repairs & get a slightly higher priced vehicle? You've not mentioned what kind of vw it is but in my experience vw polo's & golf's tend to hold their value quite well, £595 seems ridiculously cheap ...alarm bells would be ringing.

on a side note i'm also looking for a car albeit my budget is quite a bit higher but so is my list of demands. Anyways there's one at the moment but on advisories it says 3 of the tyres are close to legal limit & says the brake pads are almost worn out. Tyres are usually around £55 each for the cheapest option & the car I currently have had to get brake pads done which was over £400 each side (think I was scammed by qwikfit though as they were done separately & I later learned they should have been done together). The seller does not state in the advert these advisories but does state "no silly offers, car is priced to sell" ... at the very least i'd be expecting him to knock off the price of these repairs (apx £600) the reality is he probably wont.

your buying a banger, if it has mot and drives fine that's all that matters. Mot history and service history isn't even a consideration. Your buying in territory whereby if it makes it to its next mot your winning
