Epson Printer help please

Hello


My printer, Epson XP720 prints with (sometimes thick) black ink smudges randomly all over the page. I've done all the usual cleaning/nozzle checks per the machines guidance to no avail. I've only ever used Epson ink cartridges.

I can't see any 'ink on the rollers when I lift the scanner screen BUT I've noticed quite a deposit of wet ink in the 'home' position at the rt hand side i. e. under where the print head normally rests. Might this be why I get the ink smudges and if so can I clean it safely? How please?

Thank you for taking the time to reply grumpycrab - that video looks far too complicated for me to follow.



Looks like a trip to the computer shop - unless anyone else has any ideas?


I was hoping someone could advise if/how I could safely mop up the ink residue under where the cartridges normally sit, as I can't see ink anywhere else inside the machine.
