Shares and inheritance

Hi, Sorry I'm not savvy about shares at all but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
My grandmother passed away in 2008 and I was still under 18 at the time. My aunt was the executor of her estate so to speak. At the time, my aunt and dad did not speak and I remember her asking him to provide details so she could transfer shares to myself and my brother (my two cousins also received some shares) but he refused to even talk to her and to my knowledge, they were never signed over to us.
I now work in the family business and a divorce later, my aunt now doesn't speak to me now (family's eh!). They were Halifax shares, now Lloyds and I've seen the growth in these shares recently! I'm just wondering if there's any way to see if these were ever signed over or do we still have a right to them? Sorry for going on but it's a very complicated situation!

I suggest posting this in the Deaths, Funerals and Probates forum as the posters there are much more au fait with this kind of situation.
First step is to get a copy of your grandmother's Will, which you can do here if it went to probate, and find out what exactly you were entitled to.
If you were left anything in the Will, as you were a minor it should have been held on trust and transferred to you when you turned 18.
If the estate was not distributed correctly your aunt is personally liable as executor.
Halifax shares fell massively in the credit crunch before Lloyds took them over in 2009, so you may be disappointed by how much they are worth now.0 -
I've sent a request to registers of Scotland so hopefully that will show something. Thanks for the advice!0

Really? You must send that crystal ball back. No growth here no matter whether you look at 1 year, 5 years or 10 years:

OP referred specifically to recent growth - if you calibrate that chart to the three month view you'll see that the shares briefly dipped just below 50p at Christmas time and are now nearly 24% higher at 61.3p, which counts as recent growth in my book....EdGasketTheSecond wrote: »Really? The OP also refers to having been assigned shares in 2008 so the shares have not in fact grown as he didn't aquire them 3 months ago.0

OP doesn't make any attempt to claim that the shares are worth more than when they were assigned in 2008, just that they've grown recently, which is clearly factually correct, in that they're now worth significantly more than they were a couple of months ago....EdGasketTheSecond wrote: »The OP also refers to having been assigned shares in 2008 so the shares have not in fact grown as he didn't aquire them 3 months ago.0
