OVO cannot switch .

My original suppler was taken over by OVO on 29/01/2019.
My Cheap energy club switch to Green Energy failed apparently because OVO are classed as a new suppler and I need to be with OVO for 28 days before I can now switch.
As a result I appear to be unable to switch to my preferred 18 month discounted tariff whilst it is still available and will loose out as a result.
Am I really unable to switch suppliers to a cheaper provider because my original supplier let me down?.
Any suggestions gratefully received .
Thanks
Tim

You cannot switch supplier whilst the national database shows your account currently in a switch which it is due to the SOLR process. You do not need to be with them for 28 days but do need to stay until the switch is completed. I assume you were with Economy Energy so I would have thought the process should be pretty much complete by now as the takeover date was 12th Jan, you need to scan through the other Economy Energy threads on here or contact Ovo to see what is going on - have you received any communication from them ?

Thank you for your kind reply.
Yes I was with Economy Energy and I have spoken to both Green energy and OVO.
OVO said I need to wait until I got confirmation from them that my account with them is active, (not transferred ) and to then wait for the 28 day deadline to expire.
They advised that my "start date" with them was the 29th January, not the 12th as previously mentioned.
The energy saving club will not allow to process any switch as it states I have a switch in progress so this appears to confirm OVO'S time line. ( 12th Jan to 20 FEB exceeds the 28 day deadline.)
I will keep trying to switch but think I am going to be prevented from doing so until at least the 26th February.
Once again thank you for your insightful comments and prompt response. Best regards Tim .

When did you originally apply to transfer away from Ovo?

You supply was taken over by them on the 12 January but it may have taken until early February for records to reflect details of the transfer.

Have you seen the FAQ at https://www.ovoenergy.com/economy-energy and their forum?

You don't need to be with a supplier for 28 days before switching.

If you want to switch, I would just apply again. If the energy savings club won't let you move try a different comparison site like
https://www.energylinx.co.uk/energy/cashback/ or ask the Energy Savings Club to lift their (own) block on your account with them via https://clubs.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub/faq
