My father-in-law was charged much more than 15%, but I persuaded him to ask the company for a copy of the family tree, which we now have.
(He was actually on BBC Heir Hunters, which put our minds at rest about him being preyed on by scammers!)They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
Once there is an administrator you should only need to prove your link to the deceased.
It is the administrators job to do the rest.0 -
If Aunt has already signed, can you not now just sit tight and wait for eventual settlement of the estate.
Of course it could be a rather long wait (I think they are allowed up to 12 years) as the Heir Hunters may not do any further work until more or all beneficiaries have signed up; and could quite legitimately respond to any queries from your Aunt with "we're still awaiting details from other potential beneficiaries."
Although this is a Money Saving site, I'm another +1 for go with the Heir Hunters in this case; the fee sounds reasonable and if it weren't for them you wouldn't receive a penny.Every generation blames the one before...
