This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning :)

Site training today so brain decides to stay awake most of the night just in case I miss it :D
Its a localish one (too close to Costco) ....truth is I am dreading it the last group I had at this company were very difficult and believed they knew it all...they didn't. Hope its not a repeat but if it is I will make a quick escape to Costco. I do need petrol so thats my excuse

Mum day was a tough one she was very snippy (or I was... who knows :( ) I was glad to get home sat on the couch and fell asleep for an hour and a half ....blimey thats more than I get at night.

Have a ham salad sandwich for lunch and a baby one for brekky if i fancy it in the car park :) Not sure about dinner yet cant think that way yet.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

  • Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. I hope today isn't as bad as you are fearing.

Rubbish night for me too. I seemed to be looking at the clock every half hour. It gets jading night after night.

Well today is going to be different than I was expecting. DD lead me to believe I was looking after the girls all day. But this was just to make sure I kept the day free! She surprised me last night by saying we were actually all going to Leeds on the train and we were booked into the Kitty Cafe for lunch. Aw all those cute cats to play with! It is so popular now you need to book well in advance for a time slot. DD's cat loving friend is also coming with us and she is such a regular there her parents bought her annual membership for Xmas! There will be time before and after for trawling the shops but I'm not sure that's really my idea of fun! Never mind it will be something different.

The girls will be coming back home with me afterwards for sleepover as DD is working early tomorrow and I have them all day for my sins.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

I had a lovely lunch out with my niece yesterday. The pub and food was as good as we remembered from last summer so will add that to the list of places to go this summer.

I made a start on taking up my skirt yesterday evening but only got as far as unpicking it before I got bored and decided to watch a bit of TV instead. I’ll have another go at doing a bit more this evening.

I’m enjoying the high temperatures that we are getting for this time of the year, it means that the heating is hardly on so should help with the overall cost of the winter fuel bill.

Still undecided over what I’m going to do today. I should do a bit of housework but think I will probably end up going out for a wander while the weather is so good.

Taff I’m glad I’m not the only one who turns up on the wrong day, or at the wrong time for appointments.

TA I hope you enjoyed your lunch yesterday. I love your idea of working your way through the menu.

SO I hope you enjoyed your trip out for coffee.

Nelski sorry yesterday was so difficult.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Morning all, I've been up for an hour or so but had a better night. Sometimes just one decent night makes a huge difference so I hope this happens for others.

Nelski I hope today is better than last time.

Today I will attack the kitchen as it is grubby.

Made another 6 trauma teddies and now need to do a couple of toys for a friend, then back to the teddies.

Am about to have some toast and marmite and watch the news.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black here, but feels quite mild, yesterday the sun got out in the morning and it looked lovely. Got a line of washing nearly dry.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he'll catch a lift with me and then walk to the gym.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy, cake/ice cream for dessert. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/beans.

Yesterday work was ok, had a bit of a situation that's bothering me so thinking I may speak to management - but haven't decided as yet. There's an issue that needs to be sorted and I'm not sure it can be but it's making work life more difficult than it needs to be and yesterday I got the short end of it. Will decide what I want to do over coming days.

I'm not a big fan of making a fuss but this is affecting our working lives and it seems we're not all singing from the same hymn sheet. I have this horrible unsettled feeling and will have until a resolution is found or I at least speak to management.

Last work day today, then off until Monday - can't come soon enough. I remember now why I don't get involved in office politics and all that!

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning, it's raining here, doesn't seem to have rained for a while.

Nelski, hope your day is better than you anticipapte.

TA, your day sounds lovely!! There's a couple of cat cafes in Newcastle. I'm a cat lover, and once when I was talking about one of these cafes, we'd passed it, DS offered to invite me to their house, charge me £15, and allow me to stroke their cat whilst having a cup of tea!! I declined the offer. Hope you have a lovely day anyway.
We were thinking about booking a "Walking with Alpacas" trip. There are a couple within reach.

Yesterday went as planned, I visited a friend after I'd been to Tai Chi, taking sandwiches for our lunch and a couple of things she wanted, and didn't leave till after 2pm, we talked so much.

Holly hope you get your skirt sorted out, I hate unpicking. I've got a bit of sewing to do myself, but not in the mood really, but I'm forcing myself to do it, just to get it out of the way.

AOD, you're right, one good night helps a lot.

NMLC, hope you get your work situation resolved.

We should really start a bit of decorating, we've got paint for the kitchen and the living room. I like decorating usually, but have that CBA feeling. If we get a start maybe I'll get my mojo back.

Thinking of the sad and poorly people. Poppy, I was sorry to read your post the other day, but admire your strength and bravery.

    Take care folks

Wet and windy again, seems never ending at the moment.

Washing can go on tonight, not really enough time this morning as I've done a bit of yoga to stretch my back, slowly getting better, the evening walks are helping too I think.

Hope you all have a good Wednesday, take care. XX

    Morning all

Dry and quite mild here for the time of year, although puppy is on the sofa wrapped in a blanket :D

Off to work for me Wednesday clients are lovely but we have the load chap again today :o who is very loud !!

Lamb chops for dinner tonight we don't have them often as they are expensive but I really fancied them, will do some mash and veg with a minty gravy.

TA Ive not heard of this restaurant is the idea that you have lunch and get to stroke the cats ? do the cats live there ? I hope you have fun :T

I've got the rest of this week off as I had some holiday to use up so after today I am off :j

    Have good days all xx
  • SR - DD and the girls have been to the Kitty Cafe before so are well prepared for the cost! She calls it a half term treat. The table charge before you even start eating is a killer IMO! xx

REDRUBY the cats are there to be pampered but are actually up for adoption too.

    Morning everyone,

I have a busy old day today as Lu not only has the farrier coming but also the vets to do her teeth, the vet will also give her the annual injections even though they are not technically due until June but due to the equine flu outbreak they are advising anyone past six months to get them done early. Makes sense and keeps my girlie safe.

Enjoy your day TA that cafe sounds wonderful and a good way of getting cats adopted.

Have a good day folks x
