I have a company issued vehicle which is leased from Arval, so not something I personally own or pay for. This vehicle went in for a service, arranged and agreed by the leasing company and required some substantial work. Upon getting the vehicle back it transpired that it was leaking oil, it leaked over my drive for a few days permanently damaging it. It went back into the garage to get resolved and a few days later got the vehicle back, but was still leaking, making more stains on my driveway. Eventually the issue was resolved however I am left with a damaged driveway. This has been ongoing for nearly 2 years and I am not getting anywhere with the leasing company or the garage who carried out the work, neither party is claiming any responsibility. Do I have a case with anyone to get compensation to have the driveway repaired? If I went down the small claims court avenue who would I be taking to court? Arval (leasing company) as it is them who own the vehicle, or do I go to the garage even though I was not the customer as it was all arranged through arval..

Surely any commercial degreaser will remove the oil?
Have you actually tried?0 -
As above, what have you tried to remove the oil with? There are all sorts of products available to remove engine oil from various paving materials. What’s your drive made of?0

It is not "permanently damaged" at all.
Two years with oil stains on your driveway???0 -
Have you got or can you borrow a pressure washer? Soak the area, liberally spread biological washing powder over the affected area, leave to soak for as long as you can then pressure wash it away. You may need to repeat.0

Not sure. I do believe that oil can/will permanently damage asphalt if left for any length of time.0 -
Surely you would be suing your employer, that's who your contract is with?0
