Probate q regarding non trustee status

Options
Hello there, my father died last year and while his estate is still in probate i was wanting to ask a question.
My father told myself and my brother what the family were to receive from his estate and since his death that has changed, my halfbrother who was made a trustee has told me that whatever was said by my father to us has no legal weight with regards to probate and only what my father told him will have any bearing, is this true?
As he intends to keep for himself what was promised i feel i should seek some advice.
Thanks.

Who is the executor? When you say still in probate exactly what do you mean?

The only thing that counts is what is written in the will or, if there is no will, the intestate rules.

If your half brother is the executor/administrator, he has legal and financial responsibilities to all the beneficiaries and can't take more than his share.
