Door to Door Selling
Had a cold call last week from PFP energy salesmen. I was firstly surprised, thinking that door to door selling energy contracts had ended after the misselling scandals a few years ago. The salesman asked my supplier (OVO) and how much I pay. He constantly referred to the "Big 6" charging customers too much, despite my saying that I was with OVO. Then he quoted me £73.00 per month. I suggested that I would like to follow this up online and consider the deal in full, but he couldn't send me an e-mail, this deal was only available right now on the doorstep. I was not happy and sent him away. Going onto the PFP website afterwards I found their online quote was £83.00 a month. Their unit price for gas, electric and daily standing charges (fixed until 2020) was a fraction of a penny more than my current deal. I found the call to be disconcerting and I am very dubious about the sales tactics used, I am happy that I am staying with OVO and will consider switching in the future in my own good time at the end of my deal.
