Fine recieved after selling car help...

I sold my car on 2/2/2019. The buyer and I both filled out the relevant parts of the v5 and he took his green slip and I kept the rest. He paid cash and I didnt write a receipt (didnt know I would need one!)
I took a photo of the completed v5 and next day posted it off to the DVLA as you should do.
Later that week I recieved a fine from Hackney Parking Services for driving in a vehicle restricted area. I filled in the online form and sent the new owners details along with the completed photo of the signed and data v5c.
Then today I recieved a letter to say my claim is rejected to lack of evidence and they require a sales receipt or a photocopy of the v5c. Obviously I can supply neither. Just my photo and now a confirmation I no longer own the vehicle which does not show the date of sale.
The letter ends with the threat of ever increasing fines for not paying in 14 days etc which has my wife panicking.
So what is my best course of action now? My plan is send the new keepers details and my photo off again with the confirmation slip from DVLA and a strongly worded letter along the lines of 'you may not be aware that when a car is sold the old keeper sends the v5c off, so how do you expect me to send you a photocopy'
Anything else can or should do to contest this? A friend suggested just writing out a receipt and sending that buy I don't want to do that. I dont want this to drag on and turn into a nightmare!

When registering with PePiPoo, do not use a Hotmail address, it won't allow you access (for whatever reason?).Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Bit late now, but if the OP had notified DVLA of the sale of the vehicle online they'd have received email confirmation that they were no longer the registered keeper by return.0

DVLA send out a confirmation of the update to their records of change of ownership. Ring them if you haven't got yours.0

But they will have to, or the Adjudicator will.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
