Replacing an existing hard drive

Hi there,

I have a device which is the attached picture which has a HD. I'm wondering if it is replaceable by the following HD being sold on ebay. I cannot post links but the e bay number is
232664219205. If you type this number into an ebay search it will come up, sorry for the inconvenience.

Also, I was told the Hd interface is: 3.5 inch STA 2 interface with a maximum of 4TB. Can you tell if that is true from the picture?

Thank you

Can't see the original picture but the one on eBay is a SATA 3.5 so, yes, it will compatible.

Yes, but I wouldn't do what you might be thinking of doing.

I would buy an SSD instead as your boot device and use the HDD as secondary storage if you need more.

120 GB SSD drives start from under £20

Your PC will be much faster than before.

You don't even know what the drive is for?
If it's for a CCTV recorder, an SSD is a waste of money.

Before we get into the realms of this, could you tell us what are you trying to achieve with this process?

If you can view your own picture, there should be an option to copy a share link from it. Copy that, click the image icon here above your text box, and paste the link into the box which appears

Indeed, I jumped the gun, as they only did mention "device".
  • arciere - thank you for the advice. Yes it's a dvr

everywhere - thank you for posting the link. This is a dvr not a pc and the HD is running out so I need to replace it and there's no room for extra I don't think. Thanks for your response.

googler - hi, I am trying to replace a 1tb hd with a 3tb hd on a dvr which is currently running out of storage and I'd like to keep the hd with the footage on it instead of deleting it. I was going to get a new box but it cost £180 so I looked up online abot HDs, how to replace them etc. so I am going that route but I am a bit overwhelmed with all the info I've absorbed in the last 24 hours and I don't want to screw it up. I have tried to attach a photo using that method but it still returns the same error of not being allowed to post a link
