MOT Toyota Hybrid

Options
Local garage MOT cost £48

Toyota dealership £55

Is it worth paying the extra £7 to go to Toyota for its MOT or it makes no difference? Local garage is more convenient and cheaper but will my car get better checks at Toyota?

No it's not worth the extra the checks are the same just a different person, but even £48 is dear, I pay £40 and many places are as low as £26. Suggest you shop around.

What extra checks do you expect the dealer to do? It's an mot not a service.

Do a search and see what's actually involved in a mot. Not alot by all accounts. Its set by the government and should be there same where ever you get the test done.

And before people chime in with "but if you get a cheap MOT they make up faults to sell you stuff", I've not paid more than £35 for a MOT for years and have always used cheap cut price MOT tests, I've only had one MOT fail in the last 11 years (seized rear caliper) even though I've owned two cars during that time so have had over 20 cut price MOT tests.

  • I have a Toyota Hybrid.
My local Toyota dealership charge £45 for my MOT.

I get them to service it at the same time, which includes the Hybrid Battery check for free.
  • Toyota charge 54.85 (I rounded up cos it was easier) and quoted approx £300 for the service which was really off putting. Also not helped by her ‘you can get a partial service but you might void your warranty by doing that’. When I asked what exactly would be missing which would cause my warranty to become void she was very vague
