Anything better than iTunes for ripping/storing/playing on PC?

lets be clear, I am old hat these days with tech. I am so out of the loop that what I had intended doing was uploading all my music Cd's to Amazon music and playing through prime only to find that option was removed by Amazon a considerable time ago :o

anyway, as I said above I am looking to transfer my hard copy CD's to my PC so I can then use Bluetooth to listen via speakers.

I'd prefer the old Amazon option but as that's gone I cant think of an alternative. ideas?

my only previous experience of CD - PC transfers was iTunes many years ago and remember it being quite easy to rip/index/play back.

the music wont be transferred on to any other gadgets, just want it playable via Bluetooth / wireless.

is ITunes still a good / best choice? I really want easy, functional and free.

thank you.

great, thank you. forgot about that, never really used it but just enabled it on the PC and yes, it appears to be everything I want.

Many people would not even rip, they may just download tracks and rebuild albums, as it could be quicker and easier

If you want to rip your own, Exact Audio Copy could be beneficial.
Download from where exactly ? Quicker and easier and legal?

youtube was one source. Everything is legal until you get caught :)

Technically it ends up being the same if it downloaded or you rip your music. We humans are born lazy

Oh dear ... the forum does not condone illegal actions, and as for being "the same" you are deluded:o

Google Play Music still allows you to upload your own tracks, up to i think a 50,000 limit, so you can then play those on your mobile devices.
In fact it doesn't even upload them if they are reasonably common tracks. It just matches them to MP3s in it's own library, and allows you to play them for free.

You obviously still need to rip them from your own CDs first.
  • I download music from U Tube convert to MP3 and play on my SD card on my tablet. I sort my music into playlists. I now use Windows Media player for my own CD's. I used to use to Real Player but that is very restrictive now.
  • If there's one thing that Apple is good for, it's iTunes.

iTunes was the reason I vowed never to buy another Apple product. approx 15 years ago I lost music due to drm.

    Has saved me a fortune
