VAT paid on disabled bathroom
Jcf
My mum has recently had to have a new bathroom installed after she had a Stoke last year and the existing one became unsuitable. I have now belatedly learnt that she should not have paid any VAT on this. Unfortunately just about everything has been paid for including VAT. Does anyone know if I can expect the suppliers to refund the VAT that has been paid, or is there any way of reclaiming it retrospectively from HMRC? Many thanks.

There is no facility to claim a refund from HMRC.
You may be able to get one from the supplier. SEE https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-relief-on-certain-goods-if-you-have-a-disability0
