One radiator not working

Options
New home... new boiler/plumbing system.

Boiler seems to be working fine and is heating up all the radiators apart from one. The house doesn’t have a room thermostat and is all controlled by radiator thermostats.

The problem rad is cold. The pipe up to the TRv is warm, the one the other end of the rad is cold.

I have taken off the TRV and the pin was stuck down, this has now been freed but still not solved the problem.

The rad has been bleed, seems no air in it as water coming out.

Any help as to what I can try next I gratefully appreciated.

Turn all other rads down a bit at a time with the pump on high setting until the cold rad heats up. It's probably blocked with a bit of sludge.

  • I had this issue recently. Messed about with the TRV, cleaned it, tried to turn the nut on the other end, and it started working again. I was ready to buy a new TRV if this hadnt worked

Does the radiatior heat up if you leave the trv head off ?

It's not unknown for the heads to fail but the valve works

  • I have left the TRv head off, I am guessing is should still heat up without the thermostat on if the pin is up.

Heating is on and have checked rad, it isn’t stone cold... it’s more tepid.
  • I have been told that the lock shield on the other end is open. I must admit I don’t have a wrench or similar to check myself, my father advised he checked it at the weekend and it’s open.

You'll need to get a pair of pliers and check. If it is open you may need to balance your system, where abouts is this rad?
  • Replace the trv, do you mean it's a new home to you ? Because if it's a new home then it must have a room stat to comply with building regs
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
