My fixed tariff with Scottish Power ends May 19. In trying to seek new one, the only showing is 1yr but they want £177 a month DD...I am only paying £99 a month DD now and they put my DD down from £164 when I moved to them, then £146 and for the last 6 months £99....so why are they so inflexible and saying I have to pay £177 a month when it is so obvious I will be seeking a refund of the credit (in addition to the £357 I already have...and to reduce my monthly DD from a ridiculous £177 to well, back to the £99 I pay now....are they being awkward for the sake of it...??
And speaking to them they say they can see the two year fixed but it isn't showing on the web.
I guess I will have to take the 1 year at least and then be a pain and submit a reading each month and then take back ALL my credit and ask for a DD reduction..

Are you using real readings on your meter or estimates?
Have you given then the amount of kw/H you use each year?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi, SP are assuming my use for the next year of fixed tariff even though the evidence of ACTUAL usage is there on my account...I really don't see how they can ask me to pay a further £80 a month only for me to then seek to reduce that DD back £99 or lower as I am £350 in credit. Hey ho, will go with it I guess and make them do some admin after 3 months...no great issue I suppose because I wouldn't get much if I put it away and in that short time, they will not get that much back from corporate investments.0

They did something similar to me although still on fixed rate. Gave me £189 refund said I was in too much credit and same day increased my direct debit by £15 a month. Why when I had built up so much credit. Doesn't make sense.0

Yes Scottish Power did the exact same carry on to my relative that had moved to a new rental property. Smart meters were already installed but the SP algorithm that estimated based on post code, not even historic usage for the property, overrode even actual meter readings.
After discussing this at length, it was a "computer says no" affair. I set the smart meters to be read daily, yet SP only acknowledged a reading if I manually entered it online. What exactly was the point of the smart meters and SP having the readings in the system if they refused to use them to create a bill- they instead used their estimated algorithm. I had enough and switched to Bulb, meters are photographed monthly and I get an accurate bill- finally.
p.s the smart meters had been installed by SP the year before, they owned the meters and not from another supplier0
