DFS - ripped sofa

We bought a sofa from DFS Dec’16, it was delivered Jan’17.
In Apr’18, we had to call DFS as the stitching down one of the seams was coming apart – they sent out an upholsterer, who re-stitched it for us. A few months later, we had to call them again as the same seam was coming apart again. When the upholsterer came this time, he mentioned that there was also a rip in the material. He stated that usually they would just replace the part, however as this sofa was no longer made, they wouldn’t be able to do this – he would speak to his manager & call me back. They have called today & offered £100 compensation.
Where do we stand with this? Can we push for the sofa to be repaired somehow, or replaced? In my opinion, the sofa isn’t fit for purpose & shouldn’t be ripping after only 2yrs…

Sofas do rip after 2 yrs, depending on the quality and wear they have suffered. As there have been 2 attempts at a repair you can ask for a refund, but you will only get back the value of a secondhand 2 yr old sofa.
Decide what you want to happen and enter into negotiations with them and see what they offer. A lot will depend on the original cost of the sofaIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
