How many months bank statements??

Options
Hi Guys,
First post so sorry if this is not in the right place.

My girlfriend and I have decent salaries high 20s and have seen a house we love £275K. We have a 15% deposit and already have a mortgage in principle, both our credit ratings are very good also and therefore it sounds like we will have no problem on the face of things.

Now, we weren't planning on moving anytime soon and therefore my bank statements have ALOT of betting transactions we are talking £1000's (This is due to matched betting which I have done over the past 4 years and have been very successful from it).

Since we fell in love with this house I have stopped matched betting and my bank statements have almost been clean for a whole month. Yes - I stupidly did this from my main current account.

I'm an Accountant and my Financial Advisor in work said that some lenders only require to see one month bank statement which would be fantastic for me.

Has anyone had any recent experiences of only needing to send one month bank statements?
Thanks for any help!

  • After searching online it appears that Post Office & HSBC only require one month statement which is great for me.

Was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with any other lenders re the amount of statements required?

I dealt with two building societies and they both asked for 6 months. My circumstances are rather unique to be fair. Hopefully one of our mortgage advisor forum members will be along to help you shortly.

    0 - 6 depending on case/lender.

  • Guess i'll just go off what their own website states then!
  • I've just applied for a mortgage through Skipton who required 3 months of all my bank statements.
  • I have never applied before, do you make an initial application and then they come back asking for certain documents or do you send them all in one go?

    Thanks
  • Halifax didn't require any bank statement at all, and only one payslip when we took out our mortgage in December.

  • I have heard about this one before, but not sure that only month of statement can do the job, I heard that they need minimum 3 months statements.
  • Wow that's fantastic. I think that goes against what it says on their website, but I suppose it depends on your LTV and lots of other variables which depends on how much detail they go into hmm.

@Roebuck, the above post would indicate that 1 or less is possible, and also like I said reading the Post Office mortgage also backs this up.
