Our local chippie will deep fry battered chocolate upon requests but it seems only tourists ask for it believing it to be a standard "Scottish" thing......:eek:

I am struggling to see the hate behind them. Yes they are unhealthy a creme egg on its own is already unhealthy, however the amount of batter needed to cover it will be less than needed for fish.
If I was to eat eat battered fish than a plain creme egg I dont think anyone would think much of it. However if I had steamed fish then a battered creme egg you would think I would have committed a crime.

I've been up here a few years, there are chippies who sell deep fried Mars and at Easter deep fried cream eggs, never fancied trying it myself.
