Deep frying chocolate

Does anyone do this?
I was thinking of deep frying some creme eggs and maybe mars bars.
stupid question but do I just dip the chocolate in the batter and fry or does it need a coating for the batter to stick?
I have a new mini fryer so planing on doing chips and thought the above would make use of the oil before I bin it.
Thanks

There are lots of recipes on line . . . I just had a quick look because I really couldn't believe that this is a thing:

Ethnic stereotyping! I’m a Scot and have never eaten deep fried chocolate. The only chippie I’ve seen a deep fried Mars bar on the menu was English!
Why waste chocolate?0 -

Are they not sold in Scotland? I have never seen them for sale in England. Must be a regional thing wherever you live.
I am struggling to see the hate behind them. Yes they are unhealthy a creme egg on its own is already unhealthy, however the amount of batter needed to cover it will be less than needed for fish.
If I was to eat eat battered fish than a plain creme egg I dont think anyone would think much of it. However if I had steamed fish then a battered creme egg you would think I would have committed a crime.0 -
I've eaten a deep-fried Mars bar

(They were a big thing when I was a student, "Can you belieeeeeve what they're eating in Scotland these days?" and I tried one out of curiosity. It tasted like the most incredibly light chocolatey pancake, absolutely delicious!)
Enjoy, but not often
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

[STRIKE]No one[/STRIKE] few of us thinks twice before scoffing donuts, which are fried and then covered in sugar. Some of the best Indian sweets start with fried batter that are then steeped in syrup. They are beyond delicious.iammumtoone wrote: »If I was to eat eat battered fish than a plain creme egg I dont think anyone would think much of it. My only suggestion is that the sweets go in the freezer to harder up before they are battered.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hi. I live in Glasgow and have to say I have never seen a Fish & Chciken Bar sell this. When Come Dine with Me is on and its a Glasgow one, the voice over guy always makes a reference to deep fried chocolate.
I would love to hear how you get on though. :-)0 -
