This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
I need a few things from the supermarket so will go out early as it is half term, before the town gets too busy.
Then I have another load of washing to do. As I was sunny and warm I decided to leave the last load and go out for a walk yesterday afternoon instead.
Every time I get something out of the wardrobe I think that I should get on with decluttering it, then suffer from severe CBA, so I think I will have another go at that sometime today.
Silver-oldie I don’t know what the answer is, but it is obviously causing you so much distress that I wish there was something that I could do to help.
OL I hope that you feel a bit better today.
Poppy I didn’t realise that you were getting so many side effects from the oral chemotherapy. I hope that you can now have some quality time with your family and friends.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Holly.
I had a very lazy day yesterday, need to try harder today. I'm going swimming - haven't been for a week - and may try a keep fit class this evening, we'll see! Back to sensible eating too, need to shift a few pounds for the summer.
Thinking of you Poppy.
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX0 -
Morning camelot, Hol and everyone on the way
Horrible sleep again here just couldn't turn off my brain from awfulising.
Nice chilled day yesterday with an extra large HM chicken Kiev chips and beans for dinnerbest thing is it was way too big so thats grub tonight with some baby spuds.
Working today but from home. 3 conference calls in the diary so thats me getting dressed from the waist up and pj trousers again. Also need to do some serious planning as I think the few weeks of chaos coming up is causing a lot of night worry.
Delivery arriving as well today... a printer that the wonderful Costco are replacing my 3 yr old one with that has stopped working. Their returns policy is just amazing. Only down side is setting it up which is never my strong side.
OL hope you are feeling better today
Have a good Monday if you can all0 -
Morning everyone
Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black here, but still mild, we've had the heating turned off most of the weekend, don't remember ever doing that in February before!
DH up getting ready for work, as is DS1, DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly. He'll catch a lift with me, and walk to the gym.
Beautiful day once the misty cloud had lifted yesterday.
Lunch yesterday was a late full english, we went out first thing to visit DH's grandad - and got back later morning, good plan as the traffic was queuing going towards his - it's a big local tourist area and it's horrific in any good weather. He was pleased to see us. We visited both sets of parents too. We then had snack bits using up what we'd had left from the night before, still some left, so will be incorporating those into lunches and dinners where possible, aiming for zero waste, will see how it goes. Dinner tonight will be either fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg or gammon and egg, chips etc. I have a washing load that I will put out on the line, we'll see if it dries or not.
Back to work for me today - not sure what sort of day we'll get, it's fairly quiet at the moment - the calm before the storm!
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Rubbish night here too, I could neither get to sleep or stay asleep, consequently I feel like a dishrag this morning.
It's a tv prog I recorded that's to blame. River Walks which featured the River Nidd. This is the area we keep the caravan and lots of the walks featured are the ones we used to enjoy. I didn't expect it to upset me so much but sadly it did, stirring up memories of happier days when my life was so very different.
I have a slight reprieve this morning from the DGDs. A last minute ballet practice has been arranged for an exam the two younger ones are entered for. So they won't be here until lunchtime. I have a couple of pizzas which I will throw in when they get here.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. The list is getting longer but you are all in my thoughts. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Seems a bit cooler here this morning after a glorious weekend yesterday we went walking and had to take jumpers off as it was just too hot :j next weekend meant to be the same as well.
Roast pork dinner tonight left overs from yesterday all cooked so I just need to shove it in the oven to heat through.
Need to do a wash tonight too and have a sweep round.
Half term here this week so work will be busier but out caf! remains constantly busy as its the clients caf! so no public allowed, but there will be a lot more people around.
Best get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks.
Despite the dreadful weather yesterday there was no need for lighting the woodburner or using the heated throw. It's mid-February!
Yesterday I cleared out a load of old paperwork and photographs. Now I need a dry day to get into the garden to burn it all.
Today I have a training session to attend. There's rubbish to go to the tip and some correspondence to drop off to a friend in town. My cleaner is coming this morning so I'll do a quick tidy up. I like to leave my bed unmade, just folding the duvet over to air the bed, though when she comes I make it properly. Once she goes I then unmake it again.
There's the burnt sausages to make palatable, perhaps some gravy will help. :rotfl:
I hope that all those struggling along get some respite today and wish everyone a happy Monday.0 -
Happy Monday!!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
I left work early and quickly darted to IKEA to grab a mirror I had my eye on and when I used the voucher I got at Christmas time when I bought my tree, it only cost me £5. Drove up the road no problem at all and quickly got changed and headed to my mates - who is also my tenant - 30th birthday party. All my other pals were there so it was great to see them all again. Mixed reactions on the beard so I've shaved it down a bit, more of a thick stubble now in case you were wondering.
Saturday I had the dentist and opticians followed by a dinner with the family to celebrate my grans birthday which was of course really nice. Overall, a lovely couple of days were had and I'm now back down the road ready for the week ahead.
I'm hoping to attend the gym tonight followed by a blood orange chicken stir fry. I've also got some ironing to do soon, too.
Managed a NSD on Saturday so I'm up to 5 for the month. Poor show.
Holly - Have you been taking inspiration from Marie Kondo?
TA - Hope you're ok and get a better sleep tonight. Cherish those lovely memories
Organza - It seems there's more things you can't take, rather than you can! I hope you feel better soon.0 -
Morning everyone,
Love and light to you Polly, like others I didn’t realise just how bad the side effects of the treatment were so can totally understand your decision to withdraw x
It’s a greyer day here today but I don’t mind that as have chores to do, a visit to the SM this morning and then a sweep through the house.
Tilly is being clipped this afternoon, she’s like a little bear at the moment she’s so fluffy so will be interesting to see the dog underneath!
Hugs to TA, OL and all poorlies or those with worries.
Have a good day and take care folks x0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
OL hope you feel better soon
TA hugs
Rubbish night again, but have made some decisions. DiL by her actions has made it plain she doesn't want to know us, I won't expect to see DGS, if we do it will be wonderful if not I must accept that is how it is.
The garden, I'm going to get someone to cut the hedge and prune the trees, that way it will look much tidier. Plant more shrubs and bark chipping to help stop weeds.
Thoughts are with those finding life difficultIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0
