Boiler doesn’t shut off

  • TRV's on the rad controls the temp around that rad
Room stat controls the temp of the whole heating system (rads not water)
    Timer controls everything

So if the room stat & timer are calling for heat the boiler will go on & off until the temp is reached or the timer turns it off
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Thank you veryyyy much so what u meant is room stat yet cut off all radiators though temp in the whole house is not reached as what’s set on room stat that’s why boiler keeps firing over and over
Is there a way to make boiler cuts off when radiators get cold
  • If your stat is in the hall then that rad shouldn't have a trv on it, the trv is designed to control the temp in that room so for example most people like a cool bedroom so set those to number 1 or 2, the lounge might be 4 or 5, if the rad in the hallway has one fitted then either remove the head off the valve or leave it turned up on max, try setting the room stat on 20° & if you find the house is the right temp then leave it at that or turn it up or down until it is the right temp

Actually I have done that room stat set to 18 rad in same place set to 3 as was getting too hot
Problem is when all are cold boiler still runs as it goes down clicks off then fires up again in 1 min keeps heating up then gets low cuts off then on and so on up until time is up.
I want it to cut off as rads are cold when temp is reached not sure why it keeps trying to run sorry being pain
  • That's the problem you have the hall rad on 3 so it's never getting hot enough to turn off the stat, if the other rads are already switching off on the trv then the room stat is going to continue to ask for heat & the boiler will fire, you need to let the hall rad control the room stat which is why that rad shouldn't have a trv fitted

Thank you so much you have explained very well. I didn’t know and couldn’t understand. That every room stops with its own trv. Which was happening but I thought they stop because of the room stat down stairs. Also didn’t understand the one where the room stat should not control it self as the room stat should control it. That’s exactly where I was getting wrong. Will try today and leave the hall one on full. Then room stat should cut it off when done and boiler should then cut off. Thanks again and again
