Will Roundup Weedkiller work at this time of year?
I have just got an allotment which is covered with weeds.
My first job will be to dig over the soil and remove as many weeds as possible. Is it worth my while spraying on Weedkiller first, then waiting a couple of weeks before doing the digging.
Even if I start digging next weekend, I know it will be a few weeks until everything is dug ... Surely by the the Weedkiller will have hopefully killed the weeds
Thanks

It will work, maybe a bit slower than usual. And you don't need that branded product, as any glyphosate will do.
Allow a month, but the weeds will be doomed anyway.0 -
It needs active growth, so as Dave says it will work but slower than normalNo.79 save £12k in 2020. Total end May £11610
Annual target £240000 -
For any visible weeds - try a Weed Burner (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Range-WEED-BURNER-Cannisters-Butane/dp/B008CIT3MS?SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&!!!!!duckduckgo-ffab-uk-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B008CIT3MS) - they guarantee instant disposalI have just got an allotment which is covered with weeds.

Just take care that you don't start a fire !0 -
Perhaps, but they don't kill perennial weeds and they are hardly quick or economical. For any visible weeds - try a Weed Burner (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Range-WEED-BURNER-Cannisters-Butane/dp/B008CIT3MS?SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&!!!!!duckduckgo-ffab-uk-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B008CIT3MS) - they guarantee instant disposal
I use mine to light the barbie and bonfires.0 -
I used RoundUp last spring along the side of our driveway where we have a 10" strip of gravel down a bit of a drainage gully (out of sight), spray RoundUp over it all and left it. Still, nothing has even begun to grow there
Just avoid all contact with the stuff for obvious reasons0
