Santander Refer a Friend

Cheers everyone, my credit reports look fine, so I am doing the SARs on the other 3. The applications were consistent, e.g.I didn't change details or alter formatting or anything like that. I wasn't crossing any fraudulent lines. Regardless, it's worth checking I agree.0

Do update the thread when you get the SARs back.0 -
Just going back to the main topic of this thread, and breaking this down the two main parts:
1) Switching into an existing Santander account. As we know they have a dedicated team who deal with these on the phone. Why would they NOT want you to consolidate your banking into them, whether that's 1 account or 5? They are taking market share away from their competitors.
2) the Refer a Friend offer. Santander KNOW that for each set of 5 referal codes they issue to a customer, they are potentially on the hook for £500 in Amazon vouchers, as you could have given these to 5 different friends or family. So why should it matter if you give them all to 1 "friend". If they didn't want any more codes to be used, then they should have pulled the scheme and not issued them.
We've seen that opening multiple new accounts, in quick succession can potentially become an issue, which i beleive is complete separate to the points above. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
On point 1 I agree entirely.
On point 2, there is an appreciable difference between sharing your codes with 5 different friends vs. sharing all 5 codes with 1 friend, so that ought to matter to them - but they've not written the T&Cs in such a way to require people to share codes with different people (though many of us are doing just that).0 -

I have always thought their is potentially a big difference between opening several multiple current accounts in quick succession with overdraft (s) as opposed to with no overdraft which is why I never ask for an overdraft.
Barclays turned me down for a second account, several other current account providers continued to approve applications.0 -

Applying for credit will always involve extra 'vetting'.0 -

Hi all.
I just requested my codes and this text was in the email. Has it always been in there? (directed at those who applied earlier).
Is it risky for my OH to use them all?
Thank you for applying for your Refer a Friend codes. Share each one of these unique codes with a different friend or family member, and when they successfully switch their current account to us, you’ll both be in for a treat with £50 each to spend at Amazon.co.uk0 -

Apparently there are a new batch of codes due to go out on Friday or early next week.0
