I'm not patronizing anyone. However, I'm also not going to feel guilty about treating my cat for an illness which dosen't have to be terminal.
I've looked into cat diabetes before I made the descion to go ahead with treatment. Many cats have ended up not needing insulin constantly once their blood sugar is stable. It can be controlled by a good, low carb diet.
If I feel my cat is suffering physically at any time, then I would have no other option than euthanasia, but until then, I'll continue assisting my cat.
I should'nt compare animals to humans, your so right. I have more respect for animals than I do have for humans.
I can't believe the last sentence your wrote!
I'm not going to argue with you about this. I made my choice. You made yours. I wish you and your cat luck!LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Well, just to update:
My cat and I visited the vets today and the news is good! Her blood sugar is down by 50% which for cat and I it's fab news!
She has to go back next week for another blood test, and fingers crossed all being well, that'll be the end of vet visits for a while. The blood test was a simple pin !!!!!.
Today I purchased a blood testing monitor. It's a mini tester and relies on a very very small smaple of blood. It's there if the need requires it.
Good luck to anyone else who's pet develops diabetes. There is a light at the end off the tunnel and it's looking fairly bright0 -
what good news..hope all goes well for you both0

Come into this thread late but this might help.My cat got diabetes and needed regular daily injections. The cost was roughly £30 a month. She was insured. She required the insulin and sometimes an overnight stay to check her blood sugar. It is apparently harder to regulate diabetes in cats than in dogs.
She eventually died at home in her sleep-she was 13.
All I can say is trust your cat, your vet and your own instincts.0
