Of course, it's somewhat more complex than that, as some conservatories are much weightier than others, but if the structure's been up for 18 years or so and isn't sinking or falling away from the house, then whatever's there is adequate.0 -
It was probably a DIY job by the vendor or the previous owner to them. When we moved to our present house it had a "conservatory" that consisted of a brick wall with a variety of timber framed and metal framed windows and a metal framed door. The floor level was the same as the ground level in the garden. It probably started out as a glass covered roof outside the patio door and then got closed in. It had a plastic roof which leaked. We have replaced it with a much better and more expensive job.0
