Universal Studios Express Pass Hotel Stay

Looking at the possibility of staying at one of the Universal Studio Hotels for one night to take advantage of the Express Pass in the Parks.

Will be using Tesco CC vouchers via hotels.com to reduce the price

Any tips , thoughts , advice welcome

  • Hotels are very expensive, its is a good idea depending on time of year , but what time of year are you going? its a must around easter, school holidays and american bank holidays but any other time save your money

  • How many days are you planning on spending at Universal? If you’re only going for 1 day and at a peak time then sure get express passes and staying at a hotel is much better value than just buying the pass. But many rides have single rider lines which is much quicker than the regular line. Often my friend and I would be on one car after another, on more than a few occasions we sat right next to each other! Id definitely recommend the single rider line, maybe not if you have kids under 8/10, but even then if you’ve multiple days there then you may find that you easily get Roy d everything so don’t need to splash out on express passes.

I’ve gone in July and Feb half term (which is also an American holiday weekend) and got round everything we wanted in both parks in the first day there. Disney crowds are a different story though.

If you were to do it and all days are similar prices then use your passes on a Saturday to get best use from them.

  • The hotels are amazing - done Hard Rock a few times and it's fantastic. If you can go a little bit later halloween horror nights is now earlier than ever and a truly unforgettable experience.

Express is pretty much needed if you want to get a lot done, queues get very, very long. Some rides single rider is best (gringots etc). Have fun :)
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • i prefer Loews Portofino Bay Hotel over the Hard Rock, but one night can cost as much as i charge for a week in my villa.

Totally agree with the Express pass for any theme park wether in the U.K. Or US. I've been many times and have been extremely annoyed when visitors with the Express pass have happily walked past me, that's why I now always get the pass.
